Domed or flat
Doming makes a magnet feel like a product rather than a printed card. It also makes it thicker than most buyers expect in a shipping envelope.
Magnet strength
Specify what it has to hold. A thin flexible magnet holds a photo; it will not hold a folded poster.
Outline shapes
Die-cut outlines look better and cost more in tooling. Standard shapes keep the unit price down on a first run.

A NOTE FROM SOMEONE WHO'S SOLD THESE
Magnet strength is the one thing nobody specifies until it's too late, because it isn't visible in a product photo. A magnet that holds a single sheet of paper will disappoint holding a stack of postcards. Tell us what it needs to hold and we'll spec the magnet to that.
